Motorola / Freescale Semiconductor, Austin, Texas                                   1993 – 2011

Motorola spun off their Semiconductor Products Sector in 2004 creating Freescale Semiconductor. Austin is world headquarters for Freescale Semiconductor and the location of  2 of their 3 semiconductor manufacturing sites.

 

Contracts and Cost Manager                                                              2009 – 2011

 

·               Developed and executed plan to reduce Freescale material liability without compromising reliability or hook up schedule. Result: $400K inventory liability reduction while maintaining desirable material levels and ensuring competitive pricing.

·               Developed Austin Site Services Strategic Plan and presented it quarterly to Site Services Global Staff. Result: A formalized plan used as the single source reference and organization strategic planning tool.

·               Developed Outside Services, Purchase Parts, & Chemicals Expense Trend Analysis Program. Result: Provided a clear quarterly review for cost analysis.

·               Developed Outside Services Contractor KPI Metrics. Result: Provided consistent performance criteria to review quarterly with contractors in driving continual service and cost improvement.

·               Led Global Procurement and Operations team to develop a Chemical Hedging Bid Strategy to stabilize dramatic cost swings in our Caustic purchases. Result: Annual cost savings of 47K.

·               Led Benchmarking studies in Office Building Operations and Maintenance, Space, and Janitorial Cost and Services. Result: Increased knowledge of Freescale cost versus similar and different industries and improved efficiencies utilizing International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) data.

·               Establish and manage 5S Program for Austin Facilities. Result: Implemented a culture and systematic method for improving organization efficiency.

·               Led multi-company team in developing a comprehensive Labor and Material Unit Cost program for Semiconductor Tool Hook-Up. Result: Established a leading edge tool for measuring Tool Install Performance over a given time period to focus cost reductions.

·               Led multi-company Engineering and Crafts teams in reviewing Tool Hook-Up Materials and Methods.  Result: The program was used to communicate with other companies to identify best in class materials and methods were used and incorporate their use at Freescale.

·            Served as Co-chair on Motorola Technician Technical Ladder Committee. Result: Helped develop criteria and review candidates annually to reward the top 3% -5% of technicians.  

·            Led planning and execution of multiple organization consolidations.  Result: Reduced internal labor cost approximately 65%.

 

        Facilities Operations Manager                                                               1993 – 1997

 

·            Managed 24 X 365 Facility Operations with a sharp focus on improving In Spec. Performance through training programs such as computer outage simulation/response  and increased communication with manufacturing. Result: In Spec Performance improved 15% year on year.

·            Built Mechanical Maintenance, Instrumentation & Controls, and Air Balance teams by executing critical hires and leadership for the new Motorola Oak Hill Semiconductor Manufacturing facility. Result: Oak Hill Teams established benchmark performance and shared methods with other sites.
