  • Space Planning: Use of AutoCAD to produce layouts that utilize space efficiently. Extensive experience with modular furniture, lab and production layouts, architectural details. " Experienced in working with a Facilities Design & Engineering team and reviewing their prints prior to assembling issue-for-construction drawing packages.

Facilities Site Services Planner and Coordinator
Planned office and cubicle layouts with AutoCAD, provided ergonomic assistance, utilized space management software, controlled office standards and architectural standards, and assembled construction drawing packages with Facilities Engineers. Coordinated contractors on many of these projects. Planning responsibilities extend to most of the AMD buildings in Austin --- approx. 1,000,000 square feet.
  • Planned or Coordinated many major departmental renovations and office/cubicle modifications and relocations. Most projects were office construction, but also Planned or Coordinated several construction projects in Fab Support areas, and gained some experience in clean-room projects (in Austin, Texas and in Dresden, Germany).
  • As Coordinator, developed bid packages and schedules, budget estimates, evaluated bids, material requisitions, approved invoices, and scheduled and managed contractors.
  • In Planning and Coordination, was responsible for office furniture standards, evaluating ergonomic chairs and accessories, workbench standards, building code compliance, city permits, work request processing, managing budgets, and much interfacing with users on the design of their offices and cubicles, moving instructions, punch lists, and schedules.
  • Integral member of the Fab 25 construction team, as a Coordinator, and then became the Planner for Fab 25 -- a fast-track project with an office building and semiconductor fabrication building.
  • Received "Spotlight Award" from HR after planning large office consolidation project.
MOTOROLA, INC.Seguin, TX 1983 - 1992
Facilities Engineer
Conceived and proposed new layouts for production and office areas. Coordinated implementation by contractors and in-house maintenance personnel. Single building of approx. 300,000 square feet.
  • Justified an AutoCAD system for generating plant and office layouts. Learned AutoCAD and used this system to make accurate layouts in half the time of manual drafting. Made "as-built" AutoCAD files of all offices and production areas. Continually maximized utilization of office and production space.
  • Coordinated many production and office rearrangements during scheduled shut-downs and weekends.
  • Established standard sizes for offices and cubicles in order to improve flexibility and employee morale, and to present a proper corporate image. Also established a standard production workbench as the factory standard.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:

Managed building maintenance and construction projects, plant layout, capital expenditure justification, production time studies, managed installation of machine tools and equipment.

  • Evaluated prototype pipe-handling equipment manufacturers, chose one, and worked with that company to improve their design before establishment as the factory standard.
  • Coordinated installation of major machine-shop tools and equipment without disrupting production.
  • Designed various manufacturing layouts for machine tools and production areas.
  • Established time standards for manufacturing which were then used for accurate cost estimating.
