The Austin IFMA Newsletter Linda Delmas kicked off our May meeting by asking our guests to give a brief introduction about them. We had a great turnout - 52 in attendance! She also gave a warm thank you to all of the volunteers that assisted with the golf tournament. Board Ballots IFMA members received a ballot last month. Now it is time to vote for the 2003-2004 Board of Directors. Each paid up member of the Austin Chapter is eligible to vote once either by e-mail to ifmaaust@aol.com, fax (512) 329-8943 or at the June Meeting on June 12, 2003. Early voting will be collected and tallied in confidence by Jim Coles, Chapter Administrator, and is due by 11 AM on June 9, 2003; otherwise, voting will need to take place in person at the June 12th Meeting. Currently, the membership roster with titles, companies, and many photos is password protected on our web site. To encourage you to vote, all respondents will be given the password promptly. Procrastinators will be given the password much later. The nominating committee for the coming year's Board was administered by the past-president of the Austin Chapter, Judy Roessner. The Slate of Officers are: · President: Sharon Henson - National Instruments You may do any of the following: 1) Vote for all officers for the 2003-2004 Board of Directors You are free to vote for any number of write-in candidates, one per office. Please confirm that your write-in candidate is willing to serve the term of office. Also, address any feedback about the election process to Jim Coles, Chapter Administrator in confidence. Free Lunch! The regular June meeting on June 12th - is free for paid up members who RSVP no later than noon, June 9th, and have never previously made a reservation and failed to pay for the committed lunch. June Meeting June's program features Mark Reed, speaking on trends in the evolution of modular/systems furniture that best address the changing office environment. Mark will also share some tools that help determine which features are important as evaluations of current solutions on the market take place. Golf Tournament Donation We will present Meals on Wheels with a check for a whopping $5,000 from the 2003 Austin IFMA Golf Tournament. Great balls of fire IFMA members, this is terrific! May Presentation - The Whitlock Group
David, an Account Executive with the Texas offices of The Whitlock Group, previously worked for SPL Integrated Solutions as a Sales Engineer and was responsible for building business in the Dallas/Fort Worth region with nationally recognized accounts During the presentation, David provided us with an understanding of audio visual integration in facilities. He covered the different types of audio visual applications available for facilities. Some of the key considerations he mentioned for audiovisual design include: · Environment-lighting and control, and acoustics He also reviewed some of the specialized technologies that are now available such as videoconferencing, digital TV/HDTV, and digital signage.
