Job Description:

               

            The Vice President of Facilities Services, will be primarily responsible for managing, expanding, and marketing Raba-Kistner’s capabilities in all offices.

 

The Vice President of Facilities Services, will be responsible for achieving and maintaining profitability.  This will be accomplished by gaining recognition and acceptance of our consulting, assessment, peer review, and design services by property owners, developers, public and private sector owners, institutional entities, consulting engineers, contractors, materials suppliers, financial houses, insurance adjusters, and attorneys.

 

Operationally, the VP of Facilities shall be responsible for project management duties, ranging from proposal scope development, budget and proposal preparation, contract negotiations and the quality control of work products produced by the group.  He will also be responsible for technical and professional development of staff as well as leadership in client/company project meetings, site visits, invoicing and accounts receivable for designated projects and clients. The will support the firm’s objectives of meeting our client’s needs and expectations in a timely manner while achieving his individuals and group’s profit objectives.

 

The VP shall actively participate and lead client development, planning, staffing and execution of all projects involving facilities services; lead by example and set the standards for creativity and inter-office and intra-office cooperation, and provide technical direction to staff members and technicians engaging in facilities services firm wide.

 

Technical Duties

 

·         Serve as Sr. Project Manager and/or Sr. professional on Facilities Services projects.

·         Provide mentorship and professional development to other professional, technical, clerical and support staff employees.

·         Participate in monitoring our professional practice, including QA/QC and UBC protocols, to insure it is in substantial compliance with generally accepted practice.

·         Prepare or direct in proposal preparation, scope development, and fee review.

·         Provide approval on all facilities services proposals and qualifications statements.

·         Plans, coordinates, and documents satisfactory training of all subordinate members.

·         Provide reviews of Facilities Services work products.

 

Financial Duties

 

·         Reviews and approves Facilities Services pre-billing invoices for financial invoicing.

·         Approves and directs project purchases.

·         Within a six-month period, achieve average chargeability goal of not less than 50%.

·         Assists and supports Sr. Vice President in workload and financial forecasting and planning.  Manages Facilities Services in a fiscally responsible manner.  Reviews monthly project reports with SVP and takes appropriate action when required.

·         Primarily responsible in collection of past due invoices.  Directs and aids Project managers within Facilities Services in collection activities and client interfacing.

·         Plans effectively and utilizes managerial skills to advance Facilities Services profitability and the effectiveness of all staff members.

 

Marketing Duties

 

·         Assist Raba-Kistner in marketing Facilities Services with assistance of Business Development professionals in all regional offices.

·         Provides a leadership role in expanding all R-K’s business lines in the Houston and San Antonio market.

·         Works with the SVP and Corporate Development in coordinating regional office business development programs.

 

Legal Duties

 

·         Notifies SVP and Chairman of the Board of all potential disputes that may lead to legal claims or litigation.

·         Supports Chairman of the Board as requested to settle disputes or defend against litigation.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Architecture
  • Resume including successful projects demonstrating good project management skills including references for typical multi-disciplined construction and renovation projects.
  • Registered Architect.
  • Contagious, strong interpersonal and leadership skills that promote a positive influence within the personnel of Facilities Services.  Fosters and encourages personal growth and training in personnel of Facilities Services.
  • Has managed architectural consulting operation with a minimum of 5 million dollars in annual fees and a group of 25-40 employees.
  • Experience in successful proposal preparation including scope development and budgeting.
  • Practices mentoring of junior level professional architects and engineers.
  • Has a good working knowledge of professional and associations and is an active member of appropriate associations.
  • A proven track record of successful marketing and presentation skills.
  • Have relationships with clients and other firms to utilize in business development.
  • Have relationships with his peer group in the industry that would attract potential employees and staff members.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain.
  • Good oral communication skills to interact with clients and staff successfully.  Speaking with clarity and understanding skills are a necessity to prevent costly and time-consuming problems.
  • Good general written communication skills for preparing proposals, reports, and other engineering documents.
  • Good organizational skills to utilize firm resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Valid Texas Drivers License.
  • Management skills to supervise project teams and monitor and evaluate progress of projects.
  • Walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, climbing, and repeated bending as needed while working on sites.
  • Distinguish colors and sheds of color for identification and analysis.
  • Heavy lifting and carrying (45+ lbs) of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to comply with attendance and tardy requirements as noted in most current edition of corporate policy manual.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment and also outside and is subject to weather conditions.
  • Potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction sites and hazards of dangerous chemical/solvents exposure that may require proper safety procedures followed.
  • Exposed to noise, dust, fumes grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy and vibration.
  • May work protracted or irregular hours due to client needs.
  • Occupational safety and health 40 hour training course or ability to pass course.
  • Exposed to noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy.
  • Work related responsibilities require travel out of town to Raba-Kistner offices, Client office s and project locations.
