Patrick E. Gaas Pat is a Director in the Construction/Surety section, and brings nearly twenty years of experience to his clients. He began his legal career as an associate with Winstead, McGuire, Sechrest & Minick in 1988 and later joined the firm of Brewer & Pritchard, where he became a shareholder in 1994. Pat joined Coats Rose as a Director of the firm in March 2003. He has presented seminars to the Bar Association and many client groups, with topics ranging from suretyship, lien laws, and construction contract provisions to insurance issues. Pat was named a Texas Superlawyer in 2005 and 2006.
Pat's practice focuses on representing owners, sureties, general contractors and subcontractors, emphasizing the investigation and administration of construction contract and subcontract defaults on behalf of owners, sureties and general contractors, workouts, document preparation, litigation and arbitration. He graduated from Texas A & M University cum laude in 1985; and the University of Texas School of Law, with honors, 1988.


Ricardo A. Baca Ricardo is an associate with the Litigation and Construction/Surety sections of Coats Rose. Before joining the firm, Ricardo worked with several architectural firms around Texas, where he focused on commercial, industrial, and higher education projects. Ricardo attended the University of Texas at El Paso's College of Engineering, and earned a Masters in Architecture Degree at Texas Tech University. He also participated in the Urban Design Study Abroad Program while attending McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. At St. Mary's University School of Law, Ricardo received the Dean's Leadership Award, Senator of the Year Award (2002). Ricardo's practice focuses on all aspects of Commercial and Residential Construction litigation. He also provides representation for Architects, Developers, Homeowners, Engineers, as well as General and Subcontractors. In addition to practicing law, he frequently conducts legal seminars for construction related associations at the local, state and national levels.
