Whether you are a new or long-term IFMA member, chances are you are not fully aware of all the benefits your membership provides. Shari Epstein and Jeff Tafel, CAE, visiting from IFMA headquarters, will share with us how to access valuable membership benefits such as council networking, education and career development and recent FM research findings. Shari Epstein’s bio Shari Epstein is the director of research for the IFMA. In her 17 years with IFMA, Shari has conducted a number of studies in the area of FM including those related to office design, sustainable buildings, emergency preparedness and energy efficiency. Ms. Epstein is the author of IFMA’s forecasting reports and benchmarking studies. Excerpts from her research have been cited in many publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Forbes and USA Today. She is currently working on an FM staffing study and several council benchmarking studies. Shari holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s of business administration from Texas A&M University. Jeff Tafel’s bio Jeffrey J. Tafel earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 1990 and the Certified Association Executive designation from the American Society of Association Executives in 2005. Jeff began his work with IFMA in 2003 as Associate Director of Member Resources. In 2004, Jeff was promoted to Director of Allied Services, where he oversaw the association’s marketing efforts, branding initiatives, mailroom operations, bookstore, on-line career center, and IT. In 2007, Jeff returned to working with IFMA components as the Director of Councils. In this role, Jeff and his team support and grow the industry and interest-specific special interest groups within the association. IFMA has since formed new Communities of Practice and other special interest groups to meet the needs of members working within specific types of facilities. Shari F. Epstein |
