According to Chandler Merritt, "We use a Honeywell EBI system to integrate building systems so 24 hour security gets real time information back from all building systems. Systems on the Honeywell system being integrated via BACnet are HVAC, Crestron Lighting Control, Cimco Ice Plant, Honeywell Access Control, Honeywell IP Security Cameras (CCTV). Also tied to the Crestron System is our Audio system (via instance ID’s), NetStream IPTV. Other systems, such as Concession Point of Sale (POS), Merchandise POS, Honeywell Servers, print servers, DHCP and DNS Servers, and all other building servers are on VMWare sessions in our MER. We have building WiFi in place with about 16 SSIDS. , The main building phone and data services provided by Grande Communications are fiber optic lines to the building. The building is fully cabled with Cat 5e and Cat 6 cabling (Cat 6 is for IPTV only). The ID cards provide access control (proximity cards), clock in and clock out ability, as well as concession and merchant discounts via magnetic stripe on the back. Our Crestron iPhone App is used to program lighting in the building"
The bar seats 150 and it is open to everyone during events. Beer and wine is available everywhere, but for sprits, you have to go to the Stars Club, Coors Lounge or one of the suites.
For ideal ice conditions, the Center is maintained at 58 degrees. At game time, the temperature is raised to 60 to 62 degrees and 40% humidity for operational reasons. When the rink is covered for other events, the Center temperature is raised to 70 degrees. It takes 25 guys about 4 hours to install the 1 inch cover. The clearance to the ceiling steel is 50 feet which just accommodates the coming event’s 48 foot dinosaurs.
The slab is cooled to 18 degrees. The ice is made from very pure water and is built up with 60 layers to make 1.25 inches. The $ 75,000 Zamboni's do the laying. Skating on the ice between layer applications improves the layer adhesion. It takes about 200 tons of air conditioning to maintain the ice.
They have a police holding cell that hadn’t been used yet. To keep the vacancy sign open, beer sales are stopped before the third period starts. Darn.
This was one of the best tours I've been on.
Much thanks to Crystal for setting it up and to Chanler for the 1.5 hours of great information.
